Golfing in Cape Town

Golf is a popular sport in South Africa and Cape Town's golf courses are rated as some of it's best. If you are a golf enthusiast you can spend weeks playing on the various courses and probably still not scratch the surface.

From town center to all the periphery areas of Cape Town there are courses in all areas. Most of the courses welcome visitors although there are a few exclusive member-only clubs if you're lucky enough to have friends in the know.

The Metropolitan Golf Course is right in the center of town, only minutes away from the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, while further abreast the Milnerton Golf Course offers a bit more of a challenge for more serious golfers.

On the Atlantic seaboard side the Atlantic Beach Golf course provides a club house and a sports center and a very challenging course on a stunning beach side location.

King David's Course, on the way to the International airport has a beautiful view of Table Mountain and Devil's Peak with the added advantage of being protected from the wind by its numerous trees.

Further abreast, 20 minutes on the N2 highway, the Erinvale Golf Course which was designed by Gary Player is one of the best courses in the Western Cape. The estate is actually a housing development and is also host to a wonderful restaurant, function venue and a pub.

For an exclusive golfing experience, the Steenberg Golf Course owned by the well-known South African businessman Graham Beck, offers members-only golfing on a pristine green surrounded by panoramic views of the mountains in Tokai.
